ACCOUNTING OFFICER, ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE, Office of the Vice President for Finance (VPF), to act as a specialist in reporting, compliance, analysis, and control of accounting and financial functions related to MIT’s sponsored accounts receivable, including state and federal filings and general ledger accounts.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration; at least four years’ financial accounting or audit experience and one year in project management; expert-level knowledge of accounting principles and relevant federal regulations for accounts receivable, including those specific to research and nonprofit organizations; excellent analytical, project management, problem-solving, organizational, consultative, team-building, leadership, and written and verbal communication skills; interest in developing and leading training sessions for the MIT community; interest in delivering presentations to VPF and MIT leadership; ability to drive and manage multiple priorities and projects, collaborate with project team members across the Institute and ensure the project team’s timely delivery of deliverables, deal effectively with stressful or high-pressure situations; discretion, tact, and good judgment with highly sensitive and confidential information; proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; and flexibility and willingness to pitch in with the team to accomplish all tasks and to modify the approach as required by the situation. PREFERRED: certified public accountant (CPA); master’s degree; experience with accounts receivable and collections processes involving significant AR intake and volume; experience reviewing and interpreting legal agreements and contracts to determine billing responsibilities; experience analyzing performance-driven data and metrics; knowledge of financial operations of nonprofit organizations or higher education, preferably at MIT; experience with SAP or similar enterprise accounting systems; and knowledge of reporting systems, e.g, Brio, Tableau, or Coeus.
Salary range: $80,000 - 90,000
