    ASSISTANT CONTROLLER, FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING AND REPORTINGOffice of the Vice President for Finance (VPF), to provide leadership, management, and oversight for the team responsible for a variety of accounting and reporting functions, including producing and presenting the Institute’s quarterly financial statements and its annual benefit plans’ financial statements.  Will be responsible for ensuring the Institute’s compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the financial reporting requirements of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA).  Other responsibilities include generating internal and external financial reporting and analysis, overseeing audits related to the Institute’s financial statements and benefit plans, assisting with the Institute’s annual Uniform Guidance audit, working closely with other units across MIT on matters of financial reporting and analysis, and supporting MIT’s Risk and Audit Committee (a committee of the Corporation, MIT’s governing body) with various analysis throughout the year.

    Job Requirements

    REQUIRED: master’s degree in a related field, e.g., accounting or other business area; at least ten years of accounting experience; certified public accountant (CPA); knowledge of current GAAP; relevant, up-to-date knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); demonstrated leadership, risk management, team building, and collaborative problem-solving and management skills; organizational compliance process management expertise; excellent analytical, accounting, financial, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to interact with individuals at various levels of an organization; an meticulous attention to detail.  PREFERRED: experience as an auditor of nonprofit or higher education entities, non-profit or higher education experience, experience implementing a new ERP system, and experience with SAP or other enterprise systems and reporting software.  

    Salary range: $150,000-200,000
