Practical Politics: A Lesson in Civics

Speakers: Eileen Glovsky, Director of Administration, MA Gaming Commission;
Alice Moore, Counsel, MA Senate; Julie Petrick, Political Adviser, EMILY's List

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Our economy depends not only on the private sector to create wealth, but also on the public sector to create the rules by which wealth is created. We all have the right to vote for our government representatives -- and we have the opportunity to do even more. Other roles for active citizens include recruiting candidates, building support for policies and administering legislation.

In the words of former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, “Our democracy depends upon an educated and engaged citizenry. ”

Come hear from three women who have chosen to be very active participants in US democracy, and what their experience means for us.
