The BWF Inspire Scholarship

Boston Women in Finance (BWF) is committed to providing minority women the opportunity to succeed in the business world.  The goal of this scholarship is to inspire, motivate and elevate these women in their pursuit of a career in the financial industry.

The recipients of this scholarship will be awarded a one-year membership in BWF and free attendance at BWF events during that year (September 2020 – June 2021).

All applicants should include their full name, e-mail address and mailing address with their submissions as well as the name of the school they are currently attending.

Scholarship Details

Approximate Value of Scholarship: $335.00 (no cash will be awarded) which includes:

  • One year membership to BWF.
  • Free attendance at all BWF events (excluding events serving alcohol if scholarship recipient is under the age of 21).
  • Free attendance at two BWF events for one female guest of recipient’s choice (excluding events serving alcohol if guest is under the age of 21).
  • One BWF board member and one BWF general member assigned as mentors to each recipient.

One scholarship will be awarded in each of the following categories:

  • Associate’s Degree candidate at Bunker Hill Community College who has completed at least half of her academic credits toward her degree.
  • Bachelor’s Degree candidate at University of Massachusetts Boston who is entering her junior or senior year of college.
  • Graduate or professional degree candidate at University of Massachusetts Boston.

Eligibility

Applicants must be minority women who satisfy the following criteria:

  • ·       Must be a degree seeking student enrolled at Bunker Hill Community College or University of Massachusetts Boston.
  • ·       Has a cumulative Grade Point Average: 3.0 or higher (out of 4.0).
  • ·       Must attend a minimum of three BWF events which are usually held 11:30 AM – 1 PM at a location in Boston.

Application Procedure

To apply for this scholarship the applicant must write a one page single spaced essay on the below topic.

Topic:

Describe your career and life goals. Explain your plan for achieving these goals. Include your degree/major, why you selected it, and how your participation in Boston Women in Finance will help you achieve your goals.

The applicant must provide proof of current enrollment and that she has a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

We will notify the three recipients of the scholarships by October 15, 2020.

Scholarship recipients agree to allow Boston Women in Finance to publish their names and the name of their respective college along with their photo on the Boston Women in Finance website and in Boston Women in Finance social media.
